| Okay, not a RL topic but I'd argue it's loosely related (read on) and it is, after all, the off season...
Tonight I made the most of my telly subscription and watched Sheff Wed v Leeds on Sky. For those who didn't, Weds were winning 1-0 until Leeds equalised midway through the second half, at which point a scumbag (I think I'm legally and morally safe there - he really IS a scumbag) came on to the pitch and physically assaulted the Weds keeper. He then managed to get off the pitch and back into the crowd who, to my mind, seemed to close ranks and attempt to hide the moronic f**kwit.
Still nowt to do with Cas but bear with me...
Now, I admit I've had my own moments at the side of a RL pitch. I've been frustrated by decisions both Darn t'Lane and away, and at times I've maybe overstepped my own self imposed boundaries - shouted the odd obscenity at a ref or an away player - stuff I'm not proud of. But I do know I've never invaded a pitch and physically assaulted a player. I'll hazard nobody in RL has, because on balance it's likely a Rugby League player faced with what happened tonight would have kicked the s*** out of the supposed fan rather than gone down holding his face.
But I mention this because of three things. Firstly it's the offseason and thus a time for navel gazing, but also it's clear that there's a significant number of Cas fans who would be equally proud to call themselves Leeds United fans (or "Whites" as they seemingly prefer to be called). Plus, Cas seems to be a club singled out for 'special' treatment when it comes to crowd disorder by the RFL. As a fan home and away I've seen unsavoury incidents on both sides of the fence, yet I've never heard 'THAT Message' played anywhere other than at Cas, irrespective of how racist or homophobic or just plain nasty a home crowd chant has become.
So my 'off-season' question is this: "Has Leeds Utd made any strides at all in combating the negative image it's fans had/have, and if not is my rugby club either a) rife with, or b) becoming affected by, the sort of behaviour Leeds Utd is famous for"...?
I have my own views, but I would be interested to hear those of other Cas fans.

| the guy has been banned numerous times and is still banned. Maybe Wednesday should brunt some of the responsibility, allowing him in, allowing fans to coast on to the pitch etc.

| Yeah we share an ale in the glassblower once a week. Nah, someone brought up a link from his previous exploits, his facebook was getting raided last night, with mainly comments from leeds fans calling him a c u next tuesday, from Gloucester I think.

| It was a disgrace to see what he did to the keeper and it was as much a disgrace to see him run to the back off the Leeds fans with them patting him on the back instead of pointing him out to the police there and then people like this have cost me my enjoyment of seeing Cas play on match day

How can wednesday be to blame.
If this morons mate bought 2 tickets for the game and then passed one on to him, what on earth can you do about that. Leeds will have sold the tickets from there end.
As for him going onto the field, that was his decision, he as to be punished for that.
There were 28 plus thousand fans at the game, they managed to stay of the field.
He made the decision himself. Nothing to do with sheffield wednesday.

| More to do with South Yorkshire police I would have though, they failed to spot him (not the easiest task, but one they undertake).
I was under the impression that banned hooligans were expected to attend their local police station at match times, but knowing another banned Leeds hooligan who attends away games this is either not enforced or no longer the case.

| Interesting up to that incident no police protecting playing area behind goal, when incident happened suddenly 50 police appeared behind goal. Too little too late, another bad day in the policing at Hillsoborough. The previous between leeds and Sheff Wed should have given the police ample opportunity to prevent this. I am not condoning the Leeds supporter he is an absoulte disgrace to anything connected to football.

Sheff Wed have a responsibility in ensuring people don't go on the pitch in the first place though.

| Exactly Fully. The fan leisurely strolled on to the field, where were the stewards? Where were the police? Wednesday need to take some responsibility too. Wednesday didn't help the cause with their sick chants with regards to Istanbul (again I'm not condoning what happened but all that has been swept under the carpet), very little got mentioned 3 years ago when Leeds lost to Carlisle on penaltys in the JPT semi up at Carlisle, their fans invaded the pitch, slapped our players, nothing got mentioned. 1 idiot from a travelling contingent of 5000, for which the majority of Leeds fans would happily see him thrown to the lions.
