York Acorn, Challenge Cup. : Mon Mar 04, 2024 11:07 am
Here's hoping for a similar result to the Hammersmith game but without the injuries. I cant see owt but a home win by about fifty and although that was the case last time out it wasn't a bad game and hopefully we can stay fit and get some cohesion going into the 1st league match at Dewsbury. Up The Fax!

Its the ones who think that we should call the game off despite the pitch been playable that make me laugh. Imagine explaining to the RFL that despite a refereee saying the pitch is ok to play on, we have decided not to play the game because the football team have some important games coming up.

I will add that there is some sound people on there who can see it from both sides and I do feel sorry for them because it would be great if both sets of long suffering fans had a really good surface for their teams to play on.

I've not seen how good or bad The Shay was yesterday, but I've seen some photos from Fev, what a state that's become.

Never used to be too bad there, last season my lad played a game there and it was cutting up, and I've noticed recently Fev advertising for a groundsman, not sure if the bloke who did it has retired or something as he'd been there years and always seemed to do a decent job on a budget, I remember chatting to him once and he was saying Wigan council fertilised the LSV pitch 3 times a year, and each time was at a cost of more than his annual budget

As for the game i thought we did a lot better job on York than we did in the previous round. Going through the middle first and earning the right to move the ball, it doesn't matter the level of the opposition you can not avoid the hard stuff when playing rugby. You could see a big drop off from York during the second half which we didn't see against Hammersmith because of the softening up we did earlier in the match. Gee deserved his MOM and Lannon was not far behind him carrying the ball in his usual awkward way. The attendance was not a surprise but still disappointing that said the York fans got behind their team all the way through.
