That's why you carry 3 other forwards on your bench.

It's another small unit in the defensive line, that's unnecessary. We concede too many barge/goaline try's as it is and should be adressing this rather than aggravating it.Looking further afield i'd like to see Sutcliffe or Kav in centre to further strengthen this area.

Or to add a further option to having 3 other forwards on the bench when none of them are back rowers and you’re pack has been getting rolled for a number of games.

Just take your medicine, :SUBMISSION: put your 1980’s yesterday’s armchair coaching manual away and leave modern day tactics to today’s generation.

There’s a number of candidates for turnstile tackler of the game award on more than one occasion including Matty Gee, Dan Murray, Will Maher etc and not down to Moore.

During many of the games Brandon tops the tackle count going into the 40’s 50’s or more.
He’s in the team partly because of his strength in defence not because of a weakness and often on the field anyway just being moved over for tactical reasons that the club will have covered week in week out at training.
They know the reasons and what’s going on better than we do.

Exactly this, there is a reason that most other teams don't employ this tatic but you never know maybe Grix is re-inventing the wheel and has come up with something that other teams will adopt going forward.

Apart from the fact our goal line defence problems aren’t down to Brandon and part of the reasons Grix does it is we haven’t got many back rowers and for the exact opposite to what’s been presented.

Namely it might be a good idea to keep one of your highest tackle count players on the pitch when the problem is elsewhere, if you think other teams don’t do that them maybe it’s not Grix doing the inventing.

Fact is you opposed Grix from the start, you opposed him doing what you called his “party trick” with Brandon and all your arguments are all about trying to prove him wrong and you right as if you know more than he does

Unfortunately for you in any and every case regardless of who the coach is you’ll never pick the team, choose the tactics or have any say in anything else so be prepared to be disappointed when they do and it differs from you would do.

Thing is he has done it the last few seasons as well, not a problem then it would seem when we were getting the results. But it fits some people's narrative and desire they've had for last 3 years. It's why every topic still descends into a dig at Grixy's coaching.

For my twopenneth, RL can be a game of fine margins and confidence. Even the best teams only need to be a few % off and they can get rolled. Take Sunday, we still made similar erros to some previous games, 2 charge downs, 3 poor passes that went to opposition, knock on at play the ball. But this week we got away with it. One of our best players committed 4 of these on his own. Good job Moore didn't make them, never mind wanting him dropped some would be demanding we reopened the Gibbet.

Precisely, take this thread.

Listenup posts an innocent article on Joe Keyes thinking that since he’s one of our players we might find it interesting.
The next thing you know you get.

“A lot of people think him being injured is why this or why that.”

“He’s not as good as some people think he his.”

“We’ve won a couple of games because Grix is leaving.”

And then accuses someone else of trolling.

Re: Joe Keyes : Wed Aug 09, 2023 8:03 pm
Yes a lot of what I post is objective information, ultimately the coach the one with the qualifications and insight will make the decision. I can’t remember exactly what gfb once quoted but it was a long the lines of what if he was was right. . I will counter that with what happens if we win the 1895 cup what happens if we win promotion because let’s face it we’ve as much chance if not more than anyone else doing it . On our day we are the best attacking side in the league and regardless of budgets have some brilliant players at this level . I’m not sure if promotion is right for us right now but it wouldn’t surprise me if this was 2010 all over again but with greater rewards. Whilst the current fax team seem to struggle with focus when it doesn’t really matter we undoubtedly play our best when it looks like we’re on the canvas . Every game from now on in is knock out rugby , I’m in the blue and white corner .
