It's interesting and slightly worrying to read a piece in the Courier about RM's pre season planning. In it he says that our pre season won't end until March. Yes, that's four to five games into the season! His thinking is to peak towards the end of the season and hopefully make a top five finish. Firstly if I thought that a top five place was all we were aiming for I doubt I would have forked out for two season tickets. If you aim for top spot and slip up slightly you should still get a play off place. Likewise, aiming for top five and coming up just short gets you mid table. Last season all coaches bar RM seemed to realise the importance of a good start, but it seems our coach dosen't class it as a priority. With the squad assembled Fax should be aiming for more than just top five and ,in my opinion, a flying start is essential. RM is untouchable in a lot of people's eyes but he has been given the backing of a very good looking squad and needs to produce the results, no excuses. Here's hoping he gets it right and our club goes on to have a successful and memorable year. Up The Fax!

Im not a massive RM fan to be honest but all he is doing is down playing it and nobody can really blame him for that. If he came out and said we are aiming for top 2 all it does is put the club on a pedastal to be shot at and serves little purpose at all. From a fans point of view anything outside the top 4 for me is a very poor season given the make up of other teams and realistically I do not think 2nd place is out of the question.

Aye, agreed all coaches do it, it's as if they're making excuses before an event but...we really need to get off to a good start. Three wins at least from our first four, albeit tough games, would give us a great foundation for a cracking season. Up The Fax!

Coach says “Our pre-season won’t finish until around March." (sic) If you look at it this way, new players in, they may take time to gel in competition games, play all the training games you like but playing against your mates is hard and never really competetive as you know what they will do! I have not played at professional level as some claim, but played at reasonable club level, and it always took a few games into the season to get into your stride of the cut and thrust of 'playing in anger', is that all R M is saying? Fax also have 3 starting(?) players injured is this also a factor in gelling and holding final preparations up? Like everyone else I would like to see Fax banging in the points from game 1, we have to trust the coaching team they have proved it over the past. stop moaning and get behind the blue and white.

Pre-season without either first choice half back is going to make it even harder.
Really looking forward to the new season, after the disappointment of Hudds Town season so far.I also intend to bring a new supporter to the games my friend "awaydays"who is a keen supporter of FCHT.
