I haven't criticised Matt Calland up to now, though I do agree with many of the less positive things being said given recent events.
What, however, irked me last Sunday was the way he just strolled across the pitch at half-time as though everything was hunky-dory with his team and there was no urgent need to deliver his instructions for the second half. After all, we were only 34 - 10 down at home to one of our main rivals!
It didn't send out to me, as a fan, an impression that he was that concerned about the sorry state of affairs. What sort of message it sent out to the team I cannot imagine though not a good one in my view. Having said that, though, Fax nearly stole the game at the end but how much of that was down to the coach or to other factors can only be guessed at.
Yes, like someone has already suggested, Karl Harrison would probably be the best person to knock the current, and yes - talented, squad into shape, but Calland is contracted for two more years and, no doubt, Harrison is also contracted at Batley.
The next few weeks are going to be very interesting.
