Can't everyone stop moaning ffs? It's taking the gloss off a great performance by the team
.
Sorry but you are talking bollox. This is a public forum and this thread is not knocking any players or taking anything away from the players or the game, but rather the way the RFL is a joke sometimes-The Website being one, The way the Golden Point is not the right way to decide a cup game being another.

Not a good way to lose I agree, but the way one team was always going to lose according to the rules, which, at the end of the day, the players, coaches and officials knew, and were the same for every club in every game of the round.

Well clearly not all officials and Club people knew the rules as the Cas P.A made the wrong announcement and it stated on the RFL website that it would be a case of playing 10 minutes each way. Maybe some players and coaching staff also were not fully aware. Some team has to lose thats Sport. What people and not just Fax fans are annoyed about is the manner of losing and not having the chance to even get hold of the ball in Golden Point. Thats not taking anything away from Cas or Fax players who both contributed to an excellent game.

The single problem was that the PA man was badly briefed and didn't make the situation clear to the crowd at the outset. That's Cas's fault, no-one else's.

That is the RFLs fault as well as he should have been made aware of the situation and briefed accordingly by somebody from the RFL should a draw have happened-clearly he wasnt. And its more than a single fault of the P.A man at Cas.Its also the RFLs fault for not making sure a P.A has the right info and that even the RFL Website on Saturday had the wrong info! Its typical from people running the game to make things unclear.

I was whinging about this when the announcer said it was golden point. The exact words I used were "Oh so now we're changing the rules as we go along as well are we Ganson?" In relation to the official's appauling reffereeing performance. I was thankful they did obviously (as a Cas fan), but it's still very questionable.

I think the players must have known, or otherwise Fax would be kicking off big style - the players didn't look too confused at the end that's for sure.

Does it state in the match programme what the situation is?

The main point I feel aggrieved by is that they scored the drop goal on the first possesion in extra-time. They had one set of six tackles, we had none.

In a football penalty shoot-out both teams get the same chances. Basically, if the first penalty in the sudden death situation goes in, it doesn't mean that team has won, because the opposition get one chance to equal it up. So both teams have taken the same amount of penalties.

In International Tag-rugby. If the scores are level after extra-time they play golden point. However, if the receiving team scores on their first possesion, the other side get one possesion (6-tackles) to attempt to equalise, if they fail to score the other team wins.

In essence, we should have been given one set of 6 tackles to try and score. If we don't score its game over but atleast both teams would have had the same opportunities.

Its a poor rule and a replay after 80 minutes, then extra time in replay always worked in the past.

Spot on, thats my point having a FAIR chance.
The Golden Point does not give the team kicking off the same chance as the one who gets the ball so we lost without having the opportunity to win it!

The Halifax defence wasn't good enough to stop Cas scoring in golden point, sounds fair to me that they lost - if the defence was better they would have had a chance to win the game, and it would have been the same had Halifax won the coin toss.

Well just to put this issue to bed, the club were aware of the format regarding the situation if there was a draw at full time, and knew it would go to the "Golden Point".

Whether the players knew or not is another thing.

Sorry the last word (honest).
So cos the clubs were aware (I bet they never expected to use it) then the rule is okay?
Nah its a naff rule and I only hope that after this season it is binned, sadly too late for us but we will get over it.

I was at the Leeds v Saints semi final at Huddersfield with an old mate of mine who is a Leeds fan (from Leeds) where the game went to extra time and Leeds won.
That was a terrific experience and the right way to settle a drawn match after 80 minutes.
End of story.

I never said the rule is OK. I said the club were aware of the format.

The rule stinks IMO. IMO it should have gone to extra time then, if must, Golden Point. Makes for a far more fairer chance for both teams.

I agree totally, and so do most of the writers in this weeks League Express, including Sadler and Stevo
