Grix is looking it at a different angle from fans , he works with the players week in week out , he sees them in training, he as a direct insight into their attitude his default standard is hard work which springer wasn’t, he was roughly playing 20/30 mins per game and I’m surmising on top wages , I’d like to think that with springer, brearley, Hewitt and more than likely bourough out it ll free up some money to bolster the squad, it is mentioned we’re on the lookout.
I take your your point about what grix sees in training that we as fans don't but springer playing about 30 mins per game is what he as done most of is career. I would assume most coaches talk to one another and if he had a bad attitude surely that would be common knowledge. And i would of thought we signed him to be a impact player not a workhorse for 80 mins basically we knew what we were getting. One last point gadwin spent a good few seasons at castleford under Powell as a coach who is considered one of the best in this country if he had these faults as a player how did he last that length of time there.
It would be interesting to hear Grix's real thoughts on the matter. Grix signed Springer and most fans could see what type of player he is from watching him. Did Grix think he could change that? Maybe he came under pressure from people above paying a player who wasn't playing. The whole timing is out as we already look low on numbers which makes us suspect that someone is lined up.
Tbh I was gutted when I saw the announcement, I like the type of player springer was going forward dynamic with an offload and I feel with springer Hewitt and bourough gone we have lost a bit of explosiveness especially in the 2nd phase , I would like to believe we have at least one or two players already pencilled in to come in . As regards springer I knew there was a problem as he was replaced in the Widnes game and at the end of the game I was watching him , everyone was congratulating each other and immersed in the Tyrer return and springer looked a little lost , he lives in Normanton I believe so the move to featherstone appears more practical for him . I agree there perhaps seems a little bit of inconsistency in grixs’ cut throat attitude to some players but not others ie worthington who I think is the only player not to score yet throughout the whole squad but is workrate , defence and attitude is spot on but as never been dropped.
I also have a feeling that Grixs’ play style may not marry up to Lawrence turners promise of expansive rugby , if you watch the press conference at the beginning of the panthers rebrand Grix doesn’t say much in response to turners indication of free flowing rugby but in his pre and post match interviews his focus is defend make little errors then use the energy saved by that for attack . It may be that Grix was persuaded by Turner to sign a marquee player like springer in an attempt to attract more fans , like I said in my previous post it’s all conjecture so who knows .
Im not sure there has been a mention of spitting his dummy out rather a player that is not happy about not been selected. Id expect that from any player. I suspect its more a case of unhapiness towards the coach because he's playing to a different set of rules than some other players.
Who are these other players? Off the top of my head I can think of several who have been left out. Larroyer, Rawsthorne, Salty, McGrath, McComb, Calcott, Davies, Borough (who should be back with us and eligible for selection this week) etc etc but none of these have followed the route Gad has. If a different set of rules exist why aren’t any of them so unhappy they want to leave? How is it every player I have listened to aren’t talking about division within the club, in fact it’s the opposite such as togetherness, team spirit and watching each others back that has played a big part in the current winning streak? Absolutely gutted to lose our main impact player but he’s gone, the club comes first, time to move on.

To be fair 4 out of the 8 you mention are squad players and probably not expected to play many games. I doubt Springer was signed as a player to pad out the squad. Rawsthorne, Salty and Borough have only been left out when unavailable or injured. When Larroyer was not selected I also thought it were a bad decision because im picking him over our squad players and players like Kav and Garside every day of the week.

This is the problem, the squad gets weaker as the season progresses.Bring in a couple now and we’re still two down and we weren’t good enough at the beginning...

Yes totally agree that any player should not be happy about being left out. I was left out many times!
Rather than mouth off to the coach or sulk that player should work harder and force himself into consideration. No player is bigger than the team and if he thinks he is than has totally the wrong attitude.

...or we are happy to just plod through the season as nobody knows where the game is going?

So, so far we've 'plodded' our way to 3rd in the table!
I guess you'll never really know what has gone on but, as a leader, having a disgruntled employee in your team (no matter what you are doing) can very easily upset the balance and lead to poor performance all round. One bad apple and all that....
Better to prune out the dissent before it goes too far. For me this is a sign of a leader who understands his team and is not afraid of making the difficult decisions.

My point is more about the league as a whole rather than Fax's season. If perhaps there isn't going to be promotion/relegation this year saving money might be an option.
I get what you're saying but saving money means poorer results, which will affect longer term fan base so may be counter productive. Plus anyone who has worked for an organization which is 'Cost Saving Driven' will know that is just as bad as having a bad apple in the barrel.
