Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

i dont disagree with anything u say i just think the biggest thing is simply to be given a chance and build from there.
one thing you need is an investor, something i think howard posner promised he could get the club but the only thing holding them back was super league status a bit like the new bulls club have been given and now allowed to build

An ' investor', you mean a rich idiot? , this ' Investor ' , is he going to get his money back? ,how much do the fans of his club ( except it isnt his club, its yours ) expect him to throw away ?

' Be given the chance and build from there ' , except we both know that wont happen, unless your rich idiot is really rich and very idiotic, and there are people like that growing on trees

The new Bulls will be back in trouble again in a few years, when their rich idiot realises how stupid he actually is

So to conclude, you want somebody else to finance your playing squad while subsidising your ticket prices in the vain hope that 1,000 s of ex fans will come flooding back to watch you get battered on a regular basis, not a cat in hells chance

i hope you dont take this wrong but i feel your ideas of how to build are based on a club thats always been in the shadow of wigan with no hope to build any other way but the ways u suggest. but my oppinion on fax and how we can get back is because we have been the biggest club in yorkshire many times and have the fan base there waiting as u suggested hull kr was and i feel given a fair craack of the whip we will and then build with investment. but getting that investment and building from where we are and knowing we are being held back just wont happen

Now you know exactly why I dont go anymore, the playing/match side has lost its meaning, the social side has gone now we play at the LSV, and my clubs management is clueless as to what they need to do, so to avoid dissapointment and huge frustration, I dont go

i mean invest on ways to make profit as u suggested our cousens do but they wont come until we can make money as u just said and that will only happen being on top with interested fans
please dont put word in my mouth lol
i was only saying that as a previous director had said it but they wont put money in until the club is given a fair chance in sl so they arent throwing their money away again as u just said

No offense taken

So you agree, the investement wont happen, what level of investement do you suggest is needed even if you had SL as a target/prize? 500 K? , 1 million? , 2,3,4 maybe the Ken Davy level? , has the 10 million he has tipped in worked?

But as you say, it wont happen, so your alternative is what?

So not ' invest ' in the playing squad, so in what exactly?

Its strange isnt it, winning the NRC is now seen by many as more desirable than the GF , because it doesnt carry the dissapointment of no promotion with it, that feeling of being ' cheated '

you take me wrong with the word invester, i just mean someone to help the "business" side of things grow like you suggested it needs to but i dont see that happening until we are at a top level where interest grows and it can help sell your club more. like you said no one is daft enough to invest at our level and big money boys just come and go anyway.
its a catch 22 situation where we need to grow but the real thing holding us back is going up and trying to build from there, yeah we may get stuffed but at least we can try build that just wont happen as as seperate business at this level IMO.
if this sport really wanted lower clubs to grow and expand (as it trys to lead us to beleive) it wouldnt be held back as i feel we are and the biggest example of this not including no promotion is a prize that doesnt cover your own salary cap

No you mean a sugar daddy

' Invest in the business ' , in what?

As regards the RFL, IMO they dont want us ( heartland Championship Clubs ) to grow, they want us to exist, to provide a pathway for others
