How was the Ref? :P lol.

Just as bad as Laughton last week, but if we keep giving the refs the opportunity to penalise against us then that is our own fault. We must tighten up and take it away from them and then we would demolish teams we come up against.

Lots of ground is lost by stupid penalties and that has been how teams have got to our line and took advantage. Gateshead took their chances very well today and thoroughly deserved their half time score.

A better second half from Fax showed what we are capable of.

Footnote to Matt.................Please give the team a roasting BEFORE the game on Friday, don't wait for half time!!!!!!!!!

just got back, totally dejected first half performance really looked to be not trying at all in defence at times with a couple of esay wingers tries. Gateshead played brilliant in that half and made few errors, good kicking game and looked a real force. However 2nd half they made as many errors as we did first and we started to look like we could score everytime we got near their line. If there was ever a game of two halfs  could have sneaked a draw at the end with more composure but would have been underserved a few forwards got us close. Ah well bring on Leigh think we will get back up for it after a great 2nd half.

You miss Ben Black too much.

Its as simple as that for me, it was commented on many times by Widnes fans last week that if you were to take Ben Black out of your team you would become quiet ordinary. Im not going to join the stupid slanging matches about Webster/Black, i would take black in a heartbeat. Reminds me this season of what Webster did to Widnes in Hull KR's promotion season.

But without him?

If Black stays fit you have a damned good chance to win this division, If he picks up and injury i dont see you making the final. And this is not intended as a daft dig, i was shocked when i saw Gateshead racking up points without reply from Fax. I came here, noted Black was missing and had a feeling you wouldnt be able to claw it back. ( you did better than i expected to be fair )

I wouldnt say it was meltdown yet but anything but a win next week against Leigh? and you should probably get concerned.

christ we've only lost 2 games you'd think we were now in mid table  can concentrate fully on the league from now on, always thought today was going to be tough anyway.

Its not about the league position its about confidence, before your coach declared you " the best team outside of SL by a Country mile" or words to that extent. I didnt see you as getting beaten by anyone, you looked stronger, faster and more confident than any other team i had watched. As the defeats mount you lose confidence, which is one of the main ingredients of a outstanding team. Not only that but now your the Team to beat in this division and you are marked as the big game for the small clubs.

I still think you will Win the GF, but im no where near as confident as i was 5 weeks ago.
You will find that most Widnes fans only want one thing - and that is to get to final and win prior to the next franchises - because that is all they need as everything else is already in place - it was your own fans that started calling it a Mickey Mouse cup as soon as you where knocked out of it - Mickey Mouse cup or not - its a cup that all who wish to compete in the next selection need to win - or a Grand Final.
we can still win that can we not. if we do win that then it will be taken in highher regard than the northern rail cup as winning the grand final involves about 20 games where as winning the northern rail cup invloves winning about 8.

We shouldn't have been in a position to need to come back from 32 nil down.
