All joking aside, maybe not a citizens arrest, but if a few people confronted them and let them know its not acceptable, basically embarrass them infront of their friends, they would stop. Go straight for the biggest one, the loudest, the one which the rest just follow and front him up. Tell the Steward prior to doing this and if they do nothing, you are in your rights to sort it out. I've done this on a few occasions, home and away and it gets results.

The crowd used to get involved in the scratchin shed. Any sign of trouble & the culprit would be shouted down or "larger" elements in the crowd would move close to put them off.

This is a problem for the stadium management, that's why they pay for the people in the high visibility jackets who actually do nothing. Stadium management should look at the security / fan behavior.

Thats not the point of the thread really.

For as long as the teams enter either side of the home terrace, we should use it as a chance to get at the opposing side as well as back our team. If Widnes, Batley or whoever have to leave the field to a chorus of Boos and shouts then so be it. Nowt wrong with that as long as certain boundarys arent crossed.

I thought the drinks bottle was thrown within the boundaries of the South Stand, by so called fax fans, towards Fax Fans. Nothing to do with the treatment given to the Widnes team as they left the field.

I am sure plenty of abuse was hurled at the Widnes players, not sure how offensive, probably just the usual, Duffy, Woldbore getting called fat etc etc. Nothing they haven't heard before, and they are having the last laugh as they are professional rugby players and we aren't.
I went to that corner, as Silverwood left the field to "Question" his 22mtr restart rule. He didn't appear to be interested and just smiled and walked past. Basically, heard it all before, and fair play to how he handle it.

Bottom line, the ref and opposition are fair game for a bit of post match questioning/banter. However, anyone throwing a bottle, plastic or otherwise, within a busy stand should be ejected from the ground.
