On Sundays showing he would be in alongside JWH. Louis had a bit of a shocker.

AM I RIGHT? I'M NOT WRONG!

Re: Joe Keyes : Wed Aug 09, 2023 9:30 am
I think Jouffret is allowed the odd shocker or 2, he's consistently been our best player all season and has stood in very well with the goal kicking.

Regarding Keyes, he had a blinder in the last league game against Whitehaven before his injury, but before that he was struggling with form which seemed to affect his goal kicking. I think some are getting carried away with how good he is and how much we miss him. Our form has been equally shaky with and without him.

A lot of people seem to believe our poor form was down to Keyes getting injured but like TF says, our form was poor even when he was playing. Keyes coming back won't be a solve all but the last 3 performances have been encouraging although some cynics would say we are playing with a lot more freedom since Grix announced his departure.

I would say almost a zero chance that he plays especially after last week. Obviously we need to bare in mind that he wasn't playing that well before he got injured so would be a huge risk to be brought in to the team and just be able to be up to speed but not only that who is telling Pickersgill or JWH that they are not in the team after their performances at the weekend. I guess the other option would be really leftfield and bring Keyes in and have Woddy fill the centre spot that is available, its a position he has played but I think we lose a lot of his attacking flair there and it must be years since he last played there.

That idea should be left in a field and well and truly buried!

Any team misses key players but some have more impact across the team than others and when it's one of the main conductors of the orchestra that's when it's felt the most.

Keyes form for most of the early season games was just as below par as anyone's and that's precisely one of the reasons we were misfiring so when he's out injured the same problems continue, not only is he contributing at 75% he's not contributing at all.

Last season we had 3 capable half backs and the impact on losing one of them wasn't felt as much, this year we haven't got a ready made replacement and it has been, simple as that.

Where Keyes is concerned some cynics prefer to use words such as "excuse" that Grix is using when in reality it's just one of the reasons of our poor form.

Some cynics, when things go wrong want to blame it all on Grix being here and when it goes right credit it to because he's leaving.

I mean it's priceless the lengths some people will go to to justify an opinion as misguided and fact less as it is.

One half is a runner the other is the organiser and when the latter is missing you'll be less organised, not too hard to understand really.

It's not a case of getting carried away with anything just glad he's close to being available for selection as any club would be.

As to how good he is, that's relative to the club he's at and with Fax last year when he rocked, we rocked and those game after game MoM performances he produced were fully deserved in a team that had several others performing well also.

Not if it allows for the other star hooker to play longer at 9 and spell a tiring backrower or one who's carrying a knock Einstein.
