This is the official RFL release...The Carnegie Challenge Cup fifth round tie, Halifax v Batley Bulldogs, has been postponed pending the outcome of a RFL inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the fielding of an ineligible player by Halifax in their fourth round victory over Swinton Lions.
The RFL is investigating Halifax’s selection of prop Michael Ostick in the fourth round tie on Friday April 16. Ostick had previously played for Rochdale Hornets in a third round tie against FC Lezignan on Sunday March 7.
RFL Operational Rule B4:15 states that: “The RFL board shall disqualify any competing club which it determines to have fielded an ineligible player save where the club can show there is no fault or negligence.”
Halifax are co-operating fully with the inquiry. The RFL will be making no further comment pending the completion of its investigation.
why today? Surely someone should have found out ages ago? All the best to you all, I know a few Fax fans and feel for you.
