And long may it continue, now that the under 8's & 9's are playing summer rugby league on a sunday morning it is even better for the junior side of RL clubs, keeping the premises in use more frequently.
I wasn't meaning the Old Crocs with my original point, I used to coach a junior RL side up at Halifax Vandals, who were previously Sowerby Bridge Robins/Rangers. The RU officials insisted on a name change to their name. After the Vandals RU officials kicked them out onto the streets with no home, over 100 kids and their families, they then moved onto a Halifax RL amateur club and they are now at a different Halifax RL amateur club. This act of throwing the juniors out was instigated by a couple of sad old snobs who couldn't see the benefits of their club being used as a dual code sports club, yet they used the junior section to get massive grants for their new abode after selling their old delapidated one on for housing, along with the grants they qualified via the juniors of huge rates reductions amongst other financial benefits. I hope they enjoy their loss of revenue on sunday lunchtimes when the junior RL set up hosted up to six fixtures per weekend and all the easy over the bar cash that goes with it. Their proposed junior set up that supposedly prompted the "throwing out" didn't really materialise in the end.
