| I am a little concerned now though. Despite everyone backing them to, I never thought Widnes would walk the league with McCormack in charge. Now they might get a decent coach!

| If they get Ellery... He made no secrets of the fact he was at Donny for the money they were paying him, and no doubt would go to Widnes for the same reasons.
If the coach is only there for the money what example does that set to the players, surely it could unsettle the camp and damage team spirit, something which could be damaging in the long run.
Who else is availible? Steve Deakin, Tony Rea, Paul Cullen, Dave Woods?

| Deakin, Cullen and Rea have all applied for the French job, so one of them should be rulled out. I cannot really see Rea going there as he has a good job in NZ, and maybe not Cullen, but he is out of work and could do with proving himself again. Is Steve Deakin really good enough for them?
That leaves Dave Woods, who made it clear on Radio Leeds that he was on the look out for another job. He would probably do OK, but why did he leave Gateshead? Is he somebody who a top Championship club would go for?
I can only see Ellery Hanley going to this job to be honest, unless they stick with Stankevich for a while.

Did the Job for Cas a few years back, though doesn't mince his words which I seem to remember caused a few problems at Cas.

Yes, he did do the job with both Cas and Gateshead. But I do feel in this case there is probably better options available, English coaches too!

| Jon Sharp is on a cushy job at Hull, can't see him leaving.
Hanley would be completely the wrong man for the Widnes job. O'Connor has made it crystal he wants people at the club who are passionate to take Widnes back to SL and the only passion Hanley has is his wallet. Given Widnes' recent history, this wouldn't be the greatest of employments.
Woods would be a good choice although you have got to wonder what went on at Cas and Gateshead to make them part company after championship seasons.
We should be encouraging young British coaches into the game and I think it would be very refreshing if Stankevitch got the job permanantly.

| The good thing for Widnes is there is no rush to get immediate success so to speak-They have 3 years to win something. No knee jerk reactions needed though it is a bit strange timing wise. Stanky deserves the chance to prove his worth for this season. IF that does not work then Widnes can look properly over the Off season for a candidate and I am sure thats what they will do. The Club needs stability at this time and the players know Stanky.

| i can actually see that ellery hanley rumour happening.
always thought mcormack was a small time manager at ambitious clubs.
he never really had the luck to get teams to super league.
ellery hanley i think will be a good manager at widnes.
