Awful disease and the way the sport is going with the high impact collisions Im sure there will be more of this to come. Looking back the most sensible thing to do is for everyone to be mandated by clubs to wear headguards at a young age . My teeth survived by wearing a gum shield but the number of times I played with concussion over the years cant have been good for upstairs . If I was to have my time again a head guard uncomfortable or not would be the first thing in the kit bag at any level of rugby .

The problem is that head guards do not prevent concussion so although I do agree that juniors of a certain age should be wearing them it has nothing to do with preventing concussion. Its a tough one as now at junior level we do have return to play protocol but I have known coaches and players to get around it. The other thing talked about is limiting contact work in training now agree that could work in the pro game but it could be dangerous at junior level depending on how strict the rules are.
