O/T: German team announced for Czech game on Sat 4th July : Fri Jun 26, 2009 7:29 pm  

Dan Stocks has named his 18 man squad to travel to Olomouc, Czech Republic on Friday 3rd July for the first of the Rugby League European Shield games. The squad features 11 players from the last fixture when Deutschland won 66-20, with 5 players are making their international debut. Dan Stocks commented “The squad has a blend of youth and experience. We have retained a large part of the squad from 2008, most of whom have been playing rugby league for a few seasons now and we have added to this by handing debuts to 5 new players. These players have been given the opportunity to demonstrate their ability and cement a place in the squad for future games”.

Former Captain, Leo Berngruber has retired with Kris Keinhorst taking over the role. Player Coach, Dan Stocks is injured and fellow Exiles player Paul Szehofner is missing due to work commitments. Jeremy Jörger is now living in the USA so this has seen a few new faces in the team

17 year old Christian Michaeli and 16 year old Philip Wuerst who both made a big impression recently in Oslo for Team Alpenstoff are included in a team which features fellow Teenagers Jimmy, Keinhorst, Michi Reinhold and Liam Doughton.

Max Schönigen who is from near Frankfurt but is a student at Oxford Brookes is also included. Max is an unusual case as he went to a Rugby Union training first at Oxford Brookes and walked out and then tried Rugby League and has been playing for Oxford Brookes and the German Exiles for the past 8 Months. Max will also be involved in developing Rugby League in the Frankfurt area when he comes back home.

Michael (Kammei) Kamml from Bad Reichenhall was impressive in the Padua 9s last year and has deserved his chance
