Ban-Ban! : Tue Sep 06, 2011 6:35 pm
The season has ended for Wigan's Gareth Hock and Castleford's Ryan McGoldrick after their appearances before the RFL disciplinary committee this afternoon.
Hock was found guilty of gouging Warrington forward Ben Harrison during the Warriors’ 39-12 loss on Sunday and received the minimum four-match ban.
The panel also handed down a one-match ban for punching the same player.
With one regular league game left – and a maximum of four play-off games including the Grand Final – the five-game combined ban means Hock will not play again this year.
He was also fined £300.
McGoldrick was found guilty of striking Hull half-back Sam Obst in Saturday’s 40-18 defeat which saw the Tigers crash out of the play-off places for the first time this season.
He received a two-match ban – the maximum for the Grade B offence – and a fine of £300.
If he is to play again this season, Castleford must not only win Saturday’s do-or-die play-off clincher at Hull KR without him, but then go on to win a play-off game to make it into the second round of matches.
