RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood has extended his congratulations to Swinton Lions following their success in clinching the Co-operative Championship One title at the weekend.
Swinton secured top spot by beating South Wales Scorpions 40-28 on Sunday, leaving rivals Workington Town, Doncaster and Keighley Cougars with too much ground to catch up.
"On behalf of the RFL I would like to congratulate everyone at Swinton on what is a terrific achievement which everyone at the club should be proud," said Wood.
"The Lions have very much set the standards on the field in Co-operative Championship One this summer and their success in winning the title with two rounds to play testifies to the quality of their performances in 2011."
