I'm not arguing the number of votes that Trump achieved, it was a huge number and I'm sure you remember that Hilary Clinton polled more votes than Trump when he gained power.

Their electoral system seems flawed and is certainly different to our own but, that's up to them.
Quite honestly, I'm not bothered what system they use but, Trump, from the outset, has looked a dangerous man and so, it proved.
We should perhaps be happy that a handful of deaths in a riot, directly provoked by him, was the reminder of what can happen.

As for the Brexit comment, certainly not deflection tactics, why would I want to deflect from the idiot leader ?
However, Zoo Zoo has been rather slow to respond on the subject, so, whilst replying to his post ,I took the opportunity to give him a nudge, hope that's ok with you ?

People are willing to support anyone if you give them a fig leaf to cling to.
Of his support a chunk are just stupid, a chunk are genuine fascists/authoritarians/racists, a large proportion have been fed so many years of misinformation that they are well and truly radicalised, an increasingly small number still tolerate him because he advanced their very right wing (but not anti-democratic) agenda and a good lump of them have made triggering the other side such a huge part of their identity that a "hard man" (in their version of the world) like Trump really stimulates them.

I suspect if it wasn't for COVID damaging the economy and job market in the US it would be Trump being inaugurated next week.
