He was great lover of enviromental issues and his excitement about being with animals was infectious. Inspired a lot of kids i reckon to own strange pets and become interested in natural history.

I remember him on Animal Magic with a seemingly senile Johnny Morris, whose main contribution seemed to be putting 'funny' voices to animal clips.
