I doubt that this tablet thing is true... but then I see Nintendo's new console, and Sony and Microsofts current tendency to 'follow in their footsteps'.
I'm unsure about the next generation of video games. I reckon we will play games through high speed internet connections like that OnLive service. Who knows.
Playing U3 made me play U2 again. Playing U2 has made me play the first one again! Best series going! 2 is the best though IMO.
The only problem for me was the story in U3. Too short and lacked the depth of U2. But I cant help but think we've seen the end of Nathan Drake. The Last of Us however could be Naughty Dog's next flawless project.
Never played any of the UC games, do they involve shooting and action? If so, I'll never bother.
Any other news about future games/consoles? For me, tablets/smartphones are a completely different market to gaming IMO. Even though people enjoy things like Angry Birds and so on, they aren't really comparable to console games. Although some aspects of this new Wii appeal, the console 'template' seems to be set in stone: TV, console, controller, games. Changing the way games are played, i.e. new online capabilities streaming, etc. is definitely possible, but I don't think the template will ever change. I like the idea of being able to have what I'm playing on a controller in front of me, like the new Wii, but it isn't something I'd want for actually playing games, more for just browsing menus and so on. If I wanted it in my hands in front of me, I'd buy a DS.
Wasn't sure if this should go in the tech thread or here, but anyway...
My son's PS3 came up with the Red Screen of Death last night. I got into the recovery menu and tried all the options other than reflashing the firmware but no luck. The option to rebuild the system data finds corrupted files and supposedly replaces them which at least gets a little further into the boot sequence but still RSoD. TRied this several times with the same results and always found corrupted files. The 'reformat and start over' option launches the reformat process but doesn't seem to do anything and just restarts with the RSoD.
This looks like a HDD failure to me so I've ordered a replacement. Anyone else managed to recover from the RSoD by changing the HDD?

Sounds fixable, I'd have a look on the Sony support forums for problems like this. Sounds like the HDD though, can be a tricky problem to fix. Good luck.
