In fairness, the windfall tax, proposed by Labour and now being considered by the lying Tories, would make a difference in the short term.

The real issue here is that, as a nation, we have failed to secure our own energy supplies from within the UK and instead used overseas supplies of Gas, Electricity and Oil.
It's all great in the "good times" but, not quite so good in a crisis.

Even our UK electricity is largely run by overseas companies like EDF etc
Of the "big 6" UK suppliers 2 are German owned and one is French owned.

How will over taxing large companies encourage large companies to come to the Uk in the future??

Take a look at Ireland and the number of large tech and pharma companies over there.

Sounds like fun. The police investigation is over. Have you lost confidence in the police?

As a "one off" tax, which will be on excess profits (which they hadn't budgeted for), it should have little effect on future investment.
Alternatively, those companies could of course, share these monies between their directors and shareholders and an "exceptional" dividend.

Ordinarily, I agree, there is no sense in making a "grab" at company profits, as it would change how they go about their business.
However, these are exceptional circumstances and a few of the big boys are making "super" profits as a direct result of the situation in Ukraine and in these circumstances, it's just ridiculous for those companies to have such huge profits and for the rest of the population to suffer.

There's one hell of a storm brewing and when people really cannot afford to heat their homes but, see the "fat cats" getting fatter, there will be some civil unrest.
This isn't a huge problem over the summer but, in the winter months, with the price cap being lifted by around £1000 per household, on top of the recent £900 increase, people are going to be pretty angry.
After all, the average man on the street has done nothing to bring this increase upon themselves and their wages aren't rising at anywhere near current levels of inflation, especially in the public sector.
Mr Sunak is certainly going to be tested.

I have a question for WQ do you believe de Pfeffel lied to Parliament and if not why because if he did it is a resigning matter.

That does seem a reasonable question.

I’m not sure if he did or didn’t, Boris like lots of MPs are very cute with their use of words.

The Government body for crime in the UK have completed their investigation costing hundreds of thousands. Who really cares what a civil servant concludes.

Let’s move on.

The Police did find him guilty of being at a party therefore his many statements refuting it went on would clearly indicate he lied. The eagerness of some to move on suggests they know this to be the case but would rather not have to dwell on the fact they support a pathological liar.
We could move onto the pandemic report and the many failings of the de Pfeffel party which resulted in unnecessary deaths.
