It's rather refreshing to see a no holds barred action film. The fight scenes are as good as I've ever seen.

Yep. A grade A action film, one of the best of all time IMO, and I hope they make another.

Does it not get boring? I've read the blurb about it and the thought of it makes me feel queasy. It's just the Police going through floor after floor of bad guys, essentially one action scene repeated over and over again?

I'll be honest with you, that's exactly what I thought it was. Way too repetitive for me. The only thing missing from it was a flashing graphic saying 'Combo', 'Double Combo', 'Triple Combo'. I know that's kind of part of the idea but I didn't feel there was any narrative or dramatic hook for me. For it's budget it was solid and I may go back and watch it again to make sure that's what it was because first reactions aren't always the most reliable with films for me.

Cliched as in the two Police Officers got shot and it was not the Officer of Mexican descent that survived ?
