Reminds me of a story I heard on the train a while ago... An Asian gentleman was asked by his son “what does democracy mean Dad?” and he replied “well son it is where the white people go out to work to pay for our house, food, education and healthcare. It means we don’t have to do anything” The little lad replied “don’t the white people get angry and get a bit upset about that?” “Yes son” he said “that is what’s known as racism”



Oooops sorry wrong thread, this should have been on the Wakefield board.

In my own opinion your post contains the absolute truth and the absolute falsehood all wrapped up into two paragraphs.

I would agree almost entirely with your first paragraph other than the comment on "such thinking was idiotic", you appear to be condemning racial equality ?

Your statement in the second para is just true bollax, to suggest that early 1970s sitcoms were driving forces in re-educating the masses that racism was bad is frankly, laughable in itself. Cheap and nasty sitcoms like "Mind your language" simply played on racism for cheap laughs, nothing more.
