For anyone who may be interested or who is having similar trouble, an engineer came for the 4th time today, and after speaking to his boss the tv was eventually written off and I have just been back to comet and picked up a brand new TV as an exchange,they didn't have mine in stock but I've ended up with an LG which seems like a much better tv. Shame it took so long but i got there in the end
