Well I went for the Nikon d3100, and I'm suitably impressed so far. Playing about with it at the moment and learning how to use it properly (in the past I've always had point and shoot camera's), so there's a lot of terrible shots but some I am quite happy with for a beginner. Obviously not to the standard of some on here!

I got it with the 18-55 lens so will be saving up for a better one soon hopefully

Went on a night time photography course around Manchester last night. http://www.flickr.com/photos/8758261@N02/ Will you have a look if you get half a chance and let me know what you think please guys and gals Also don't know if anyone is interested but a friend of mine is selling his Nikon D5000 DSLR 12.3 megapixels, SD card, leads, battery and charger, instruction manual, boxed. Body only, for £300-£350. Or Will consider selling lens as well. Nikon lens 18-55mm VR (kit lens) £350-£400 with body. It's only a few months old, but his upgraded to another Nikon so is looking to sell this.

Very nice set, I enjoy night photography, light trails, etc, thinking of going out to shoot the Christmas lights this weekend.

I particularly liked the cobbles shot, very 'Corrie'

Yesterday one of the cats managed to knock my Olympus E1 complete with attached FL-36 flashgun, off the table. Camera and flashgun parted company via a broken hotshoe assembly. I thought I was going to be in for another couple of hundred to replace the gun, until I found this website: uscamera.com This guys sells camera and flashgun parts for most popular makes, he also has an eBay store, if that's preferred. Result was I've ordered a new shoe assembly, although some delicate soldering will be required, at less than £40 delivered, I'm happy with that. So if you've got a broken flashgun, battery compartment door etc. he's well worth a try

The battery flap on my flash unit for my Fuji underwater strobe broke off and I couldn't believe that Fuji didn't do a replacement, but said I had to by the full rig again !!! Hope this guy can help.

I throw down a real challenge for all you excellent photographers - a shot of the International Space Station passing Jupiter, which it will do at approx. 17:36 tonight (if you are lucky enough to have some clear sky to the south)

Anyone up for it? (For a sky chart see my Follow that star thread)
