Obama had 4 years to turn round a mess that had been generations in the making. It was nowhere near enough time.

Cameron will be running this argument come the UK general election. Whisper it, but it may even get him a second stint as PM.

Cameron's only chance is that Ed Milliband is the only other option as PM at present....If Labour could find themselves a leader with just an ounce of charisma or personality and couple it with a few fresh ideas, then Cameron wouldn't stand a chance.

Its like after the Grand National. The bookies and the winners often make a big deal of the fact that someone has won say £100,000 on a horse winning at 20-1. They never tell you how much that bloke has lost in the previous year.

I think he just wants people to know he lays big bets (If you believe him! ) in a "I'm considerably richer than yow" tone. I see his losses are only double figures! Yeah right. FWIW I lost £10 on Shaun Lunt to win HS Trophy at OT @ 33/1 but we won so I couldn't give a toss! Congratulations to the American people!

Any leader that manages to get re-elected after being in power post 2008 must have done a half decent job. Its been a poisoned chalice of a job in the current economic climate.

Cameron isn't in the same class as Obama and Milliband has improved a fair bit over the last year. But Labour's lead in the polls doesn't look that solid given where we are in the electoral cycle. I think their Achilles Heel now isn't Milliband, its Ed Balls. If he's still Shadow Chancellor leading up to the general election he'll just remind people of the bad aspects of the Brown years and that Labour are just as capable as the Tories at being a nasty, lying unprincipled party.

Re: OBAMA v ROMNEY : Wed Nov 07, 2012 8:05 pm
Personally, I don't see Ed Milliband ever being PM - He simply doesn't have the neccessary X factor that is needed to convince the important '10%' that he can be their man.

The problem in this country is simple - Most folk are naturally Labour or Tory (with a small amount of odd folk who waste their vote on the small parties).....then there are a group of people, I'd guess about 10%, who are naturally Tory but, with the right sort of convincing, are prepared to give the 'other guy' a go if he seems a decent guy.

Tony Blair was a master at convincing this group of people and Milliband will need the same touch - Unfortunately, he has the charisma of a house brick.

The one thing that Cameron does have massively over Milliband is some semblence of personality, regardless of it being an upper class toff sort of one.....Come election time, especially during the TV debates, Milliband will be exposed pretty horribly as the unlikeable nerd he so obviously is.

People on this forum who consider Labour a 'penalty kick' to win the next election, are, unfortunately, sadly deluded. History tells us that the British electorate are more than capable of believing the b0llocks they are being fed!
