Hull can't be summed up by the negative stereotypes many people like to label it with. It does have its problems like many places, but it's the salacious headlines and lowbrow gossip that knuckleheads want now, so bashing it seems a popular though lazy way for smug insecure people to feel better about themselves. The same people would be better off casting a critical eye on their own community and getting invovled to improve their own cities,towns, and neighbourhoods , and stop obsessing about others.

I sussed out, some considerable time ago, that the op, Smithers-Jones, has a sneaking admiration for the great, historical city that is Hull.
