A few years back was talking to a recently arrived Pole (a plumber!) who'd been pulled by a bailiff for not having a fishing licence. I think it was several months before he grudgingly accepted that it probably wasn't a wind-up, although he still scratches his head. Proof for a Pole that the English really are quite mad.

It's not just him who thinks they are barmy, I do too.

Although I enjoy my fishing, I have absolutely no interest in catching fish for "fun" or "sport" or however some want to dress it up. If I can't eat it or use it for bait to catch something that I can eat, then I ain't interested in trying to catch it. My attitude sometimes upsets the catch & release brigade but I much prefer:
