Webuyanycar is a joke. I have a 59 plate 1.2 clio dynamique (pretty nice spec think Fiesta Zetec or Polo SE) with 11k on the clock and they just showed me 3900!! what?! haha
Also a good bet is eBay classifieds. They work like Auto trader but are cheaper (not a bid btw though you could try that. just make sure theres a disclaimer that you can pull the auction anytime due to it being advertised elsewhere)
Try these people, I know 2 people who have sold cars to them and both got very fair prices (in fact one of them got £200 more than he was going to advertise it privately for). They're based in Hull I think....

On what basis is the country's biggest buyer of cars a "joke"? You may hate them, but as they are the sellers' choice, and their website says they've valued nearly 30m cars, your comment just makes you sound foolish. Personally we sold the wife's old Vectra diesel through them and got within £750 of book. Add in the value of: * 'instant cash' * no advertising costs * no delays * no time spent on a stream of various timewasters, dealers and dodgy individuals all knowing where you live *no recourse to you by the buyer if the thing breaks down ...and anyone who can't see the attraction must be wearing blinkers and a blindfold.
Sure you may be able to extract more money if you are able and willing to go through the aggro and delays of a personal sale. But if this lot (or any of their competitors) don't offer you a price you think is fair -then don't accept it, simple as!

Thats pretty much my attitude, coupled with the fact that far too many put far too much faith in the various "price guides" that tell them that their seven year old Astra is worth £xxxx, far too many of those who read those guides instantly assume that their seven year old Astra is worth the top "book price" whereas in reality they have an incomplete service record (or no records at all), no receipts as proof of major works completed, scratches and dents all over the wheels and bodywork, a boot full of dog hairs and a drivers seat with a well deep enough in it to hold water.
Your car is worth what someone else will pay for it and still give them a decent enough margin to sell it on bearing in mind that they want to sell it on tomorrow, not leave it on their car lot or grass verge outside their house for six months, your car is their £500 wage next week.

That is just exactly the other point I forgot to list. WBAC et al BUY your car so they can immediately look to SELL it at a PROFIT. Which bit of that is so hard for some people to understand? "They wouldn't give me the full book price in Parker or Glasses". No shiit, Sherlock. What did you think, they were a registered charity, performing a valuable public service? Or that having paid you full whack, they have some captive cabal of mentally deficient billionaire buyers who will guarantee to pay them over book price for hundreds of thousands of cars?.
The more I think about it, the crazier these folk seem.
As has been said, Parkers and Glass's offer price guides, nothing else.
Ask them if they want to pay the full 'book price' for your car!
Of course, car-buying companies do typically pay less for your car, but the trade-off is that they save you an awful lot of time, convenience and hidden advertising costs whilst sparing you from the dreaded 'tyre-kickers'.

Advice is what we seek when we already know the answer - but wish we didn't

Stick to what you know and listen to someone who has had many years experience of buying & selling vehicles.
No one has even suggested getting full retail price from any on-line car purchasers, nor do I think anyone has a problem with such purchasers making a profit, it's how the world works.
My problem was that their on-line valuation of my car was so far out, it was laughable. So do yourself a favour and stop making things up.
