Medical negligence : Mon Aug 18, 2014 8:01 pm
Serious question here .
I know there are any number of solicitors out there that chase ambulances and offer the 'no-win-no-fee' codswallop .
But could anyone offer any advice , or point me in the direction of one that could help me with an issue I have over my recent care ?

I am not looking for cash compensation . Just an explanation and an apology or three .

I have googled etc , but all I can find are ones that offer to get the biggest and best cash award .

I am in Leeds , so a local firm would be ideal .

Without going into too much detail it is a recurrent problem that has been dealt with by way of ' here's some tablets , see ya' . Or the best one ' Here's a safety-pin . a sling , and a purple felt pen , see ya ' .
Kinda like taking your car to a garage every week for three months with a flat tyre and them just inflating it and sending you on your way without even attempting to find the cause or repairing it .

Any recommendations on who I should speak to ?

Cheers Coddy . I ain't really the moaning type . I have just had enough of the treatment ( or rather the lack of it ) mainly over the last three months , but issues that began five years or so ago .
That link provides a great place to start my complaint .

Reading through it I am trying to figure out who I should complain to . It is regarding three hospitals , two consultants , and a GP .
Actual hands-on care at two CDU wards was outstanding , as was care/help/advice from two further GPs and a Practice Nurse that I have seen .

None of the above has actually attempted to find the cause of my problem though until this week . Feeling I need to verbally discuss my complaint with somebody to decide who to complain about and to whom .

I'd start at the bottom - in this instance, your GP. Then follow the steps through.

It ain't going to be quick, that's for sure

Just my luck to finally get a date for tests that start on my birthday ,are spread over three out of five days , the third day being Challenge Cup final day , and the fifth day a Bank Holiday .
I really should just be thankful that the tests are going ahead after recently having been booked for them mid-September only to be told ' a clinical decision has been made that the tests are of no benefit to your case'

Currently with hands the size of boxing gloves , neck so swollen and painful that it has been nigh on impossible to sleep for four days, and a face so swollen that both eyes are almost closed my opinion is that allergy testing should be a priority and shouldn't have taken five years of frequent visits to A&E and sessions on IV antibiotics to persuade the docs that tests are required . To be fair though , the problem is normally only in the limbs .

A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.

When you rescue a dog, you gain a heart for life.

Handle every situation like a dog. If you can't Eat it or Chew it. Pee on it and Walk Away.

Have you asked anyone what they think is the possible cause of the problem?

Your first problem is that you are looking for a professional solicitor who makes his/her living by charging people for their advice and actions, as they are perfectly entitled to do.

As soon as you say "I don't want any compensation" then you rule out 50% of the reason why a professional solicitor would help you, the other 50% of the "who to charge" question is you, they will have to charge you for the work they do to get the answers that you seek.

Which is fine if thats what you want.

What Jerry said.

Solicitors make money by charging people for their time. In personal injury or medical negligence, usually they do this by winning cases and recovering their costs from the other side.

If you don't want to issue proceedings, then there will be no costs for them to claim back. So all you are left with is paying privately, which will cost you around £150 + vat per hour.

You are best ditching the idea of a solicitor and complaining directly, in writing to the GP or hospital.
