1. Embrace tradition and uphold current succession policy.
2. Reject tradition, do away with the monarchy and become a republic.
I just hate the way 21st Century liberal egalitarianism is afflicting our time-honoured traditions. Don't keep chipping away at tradition, either keep it or bin it. I say keep it.
Moreover, what does this change add to our culture? And why are people concerned specifically with the gender of a future heir? Where's the legislation permitting Muslim, Hindu or dare I say it Catholic monarchs? Equal opportunities and all that.

Or a much better 3rd choice - steadily update the tradition so that you have some of the better/more beneficial elements of both worlds.
Update and tradition are not two words that go well together. Like I have said, where will it end? If the Prince's son converts to Islam to marry a pretty Iranian girl he meets at Bristol Uni, should their child be heir to our throne?

Really? I see tradition and modernity working hand in hand every day of the week, it's pretty much a hallmark of this nation. And, yes they should. Religion should play no part.
'when my life is over, the thing which will have given me greatest pride is that I was first to plunge into the sea, swimming freely underwater without any connection to the terrestrial world'

No fish in this pond.
I live in hope that by the time this unborn is succeeding his father we will have seen sense and put royalty into the bin.
I love Jamie and have done since he was 10 years old.

At least Nick Clegg is happy
Option 3 - throw away intolerance and embrace the fact that a female monarch hasn't done all that badly in the past 60 years, nor did the female monarch before her.
I realise that its the intolerance thats the sticking bit for you, but try really hard to look at the evidence and you'll see it works.

Just keep them away from any Prime Ministerial duties.
