Is the Past Better? : Sun Nov 25, 2012 6:31 pm
Huddersfield RLFC [Giants] are putting together a Rugby League Heritage Project based on the club and the town. It will come to fruition in 2014 to celebrate:

1. 150 since the club's formation;
2. 100 years since the Team Of All Talents;
3. 100 years since Albert Rosenfeld's 80 tries in 1 season - still a world record rugby try-scoring feat;
4. 100 years since the start of WW1 [note, we are 'marking' the start of WW1, not celebrating it].

We have a website - www.HuddersfielRLHeritage.co.uk.

If anyone has anything they would like to contribute [or know of anyone who might], please contact me.

Hope you enjoy some of the online items. My favourite is the 1881-2 Fixture Card, it is 6" x 2.25" fully open. Closely followed by the 1895 booklet.

Luck is a combination of preparation and opportunity

Just to avoid confusion Starbug is the username of Steven Pike

SOMEBODY SAID that it couldn’t be done
But he with a chuckle replied
That “maybe it couldn’t,” but he would be one
Who wouldn’t say so till he’d tried.
So he buckled right in with the trace of a grin
On his face. If he worried he hid it.
He started to sing as he tackled the thing
That couldn’t be done, and he did it!

I'm pretty sure he'll have meant 'mark', rather than 'celebrate' in the context of WWI.

I don't know, you try and share something with the wider RL 'family' which might be of interest and 'people' turn politically correct.

I'm sure the vast majority knew what I meant.

It just seemed a bit ' random ' lumped in with the RL stuff , no great problem :)
