OT (anyone up on computers??) bad image error on windows xp : Sat Dec 31, 2011 3:26 am  

My laptop has recently started to give an error on every program I open and every process it does.
On start up it brings up about 15 of them.

the error is

The application or DLL ......................... is not a valid windows image.

Can anyone help?
Cant find how to fix the problem on google etc..

try going to start, then run

type sfc /fix in the box

that will run a system file checker and attempt to replace any corrupt system files
