As a fullback, I could live with this.

My big worry is that we're freeing up a big chunk of salary cap for a club that's planning a late counter bid for Chase. Hardly a great bit of strategic thinking if true.

Stuart howarth is being picked over him. He cannot get into our team atm, and we aren't in great shape.

Probably do a job at FB for you. Anywhere else he's proved to be pretty useless in his saints career.

Funny thing with Hohaia, aside from his NRL rookie of the year season, he was a terrible halfback Down Under.

However, it's also pretty well known that he was a great fullback.

I'm surprised nobody at St Helens was aware of this before signing him.

As for the Chase thing, let's wait and see. But I do hope Salford haven't shot themselves in the foot here by inadvertently assisting a rival suitor.

I think he'd be a good signing, excellent full back with the attacking flair we all like to watch, can cover in the halves and @ hooker.

Think the Doc will be announcing people like this next Friday (ish) a marked step up for who we've signed in previous years and someone who can be a fixture for longer than the likes of Meli, Morley and Puletua.

Was he a great fullback though? He had a brilliant World Cup in 2008 that led to a load of people talking him up and St Helens eventually signing him. I always thought he was a bit overrated, even when watching him in the NRL.
